DCU Educational Trust has announced the appointment of Jason Sherlock as the organisation’s new Director of Development. Jason has worked with the Trust since March 2018 in the role of Associate Director. Since joining the team, Jason has played a leading role in developing exciting new initiatives such as the DCU Access to the Workplace programme, a joint initiative with DCU’s Access Service that provides meaningful paid summer work placements for DCU Access students.
Prior to his move into the not-for-profit sector, Jason gained extensive Sales and Business Development experience having worked as Head of Business Development for the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel. Jason is a well-known sporting personality nationally. As a player, he represented Ireland in soccer and basketball and also played for the Dublin Senior Football Team for 15 seasons. He is currently a selector with Dublin’s All-Ireland winning Senior Football Team. He also graduated with an Executive MBA from Dublin City University in 2014.
As Director of Development, Jason will be responsible for developing and implementing the Trust’s overall fundraising strategy and is inspired by DCU’s mission to transform lives and societies through education, research, innovation and engagement.
Speaking about Jason’s appointment as Director of Development, Jim Canavan, interim CEO, DCU Educational Trust said:

Since he joined the team in 2018, he has shown great leadership and creativity in introducing new initiatives to strengthen the relationships we enjoy with DCU’s supporters and he has played a key role in ensuring the success of the Trust. For anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Jason, either on or off the pitch, they will know how hard-working and determined he is and we are sure that he will bring this same level of enthusiasm to his role as Director of Development.”
Speaking about his promotion to Director of Development Jason said:
