Dublin Airport Community Fund Supports DCU Access Programme

We were delighted to join the daa in December with some of our Access students for a special event to celebrate the first allocation from the Dublin Airport Community Fund which includes support for DCU’s Access Scholarship Programme.

The €10 million fund will see Dublin Airport invest €400,000 each year for the next 25 years to support community groups in its north Dublin catchment area. The fund is also supporting up to 10 students to attend DCU each year through our Access Scholarship Programme over the next few years.

Access students who joined the daa to celebrate the first allocation from the fund included George Mihailescu from Tyrrelstown who is studying Physics with Biomedical Science; Uduak Umo from Swords who is studying Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science; Sidney Adeleye from Swords who is studying Aviation Management; and Daniel Harvey from Ballymun who is in the final year of his Business Studies degree.

Speaking at the event, Nathalie Walker, CEO of DCU Educational Trust said that,

“We are delighted that the Dublin Airport Community Fund has chosen to partner with DCU’s Access Programme to enable young people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds to pursue a third level education at DCU. Both DCU and Dublin Airport are important institutions in north Dublin and our collaboration has potential to make a significant difference to the lives of people living in our surrounding communities.”
